Difficulty Level: Intermediate
The app has a simple-to-use interface, nothing extra. Ellipal Mobile app supports more than 8 other cryptocurrencies aside from Bitcoin and Ethereum. Ellipal has an in-app swapping feature that allows you to swap between different cryptocurrencies.
Ellipal also allows you to create different accounts,
We have it at the bottom of our list for several reasons. The first is that Ellipal isn’t fully open source. It would be higher on our list if the app also allowed you to add custom ERC-20 tokens to your wallet. While the app is great looking, we just couldn’t put it higher on this list.
Difficulty Level: Beginner- Intermediate
Coniomi has a simple UI with an average look to it. It is quite boring compared to other wallets on this list. Coinomi has many features that make the wallet more Anonymous when it comes to Bitcoin, like HD wallets and Segwit. It also allows users to add custom ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum.
One downfall of Coinomi is that it isn’t open source, though perhaps this can be offset by the fact that it’s a generally anonymous wallet. No personal data is collected, and users can add custom BTC nodes that it connects to.
All of the main features of the Coinomi wallet are easily accessible, so newer users of the crypto space may find it easier to use.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
One great feature of Unstoppable is that the default settings allow you to hold Ethereum on L2 networks such as Arbitrum and Optimism. Another great feature of Unstoppable is that ERC-20 custom tokens are addable on other networks including Ethereum, like BSC, Polygon, Fantom, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Avax.
One of the best features of Unstoppable is its Markets update widget. This section of the app gives the user the latest information about the cryptocurrency market, like top losers, gainers, top sectors, and NFT collections.
Unstoppable as a Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet also shows important information such as total crypto marketcap, DeFi Cap, and TVL in DeFi. Each of these metrics comes with its own visually appealing chart. The charts themselves have switchable time intervals.
Unstoppable also has a daily news section and features WalletConnect. It allows users to make and manage multiple wallets.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Dopamine as an app comes with 3 main sections: the main wallet, a media section called “360 Media”, and an Entertainment section. Add multiple wallets and manage them within the dopamine wallet. What’s also great about the wallet is that it also has a section to track coins and tokens even if they aren’t supported by the wallet.
Not only does Dopamine Support Bitcoin and Ethereum, but it also supports other EVM and non-EVM networks. These include Solana, Algorand, BSC, Fantom, Huobi network, Fuse, and Avax.
Dopamine allows users to add custom tokens on Ethereum and EVM networks such as Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygonand Fantom.
Another interesting feature about Dopamine is that you can play games within the app. They have a GameFi Section where you earn BabyDoge cryptocurrency by playing different games such as basketball, a Tetris-like game, and a slot machine game. It also has 2 other games.
Dopamine also has a section to view NFTs and manage them.
The 6th best Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet is Atomic Wallet. It is currently available on all major platforms. Atomic Wallet accepts more than 1000 cryptocurrencies and allows users to stake their Proof of Stake native coins like Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and Polygon.
Difficulty Level: Beginner
We would put Atomic much further up on this list if Atomic didn’t get hacked. In June 2023 Atomic got hacked by a cybercriminal group called Lazarus. They stole more than $100 Million which affected more than 5500 people.
While the Atomic company, themselves do not have access to user funds, the hack illustrates how hot wallets like Atomic are still vulnerable to hackers. Atomic Wallet is generally a safe wallet, though not as safe as cold wallets.
Aside from this, Atomic offers a wallet that is robust and easy to use. It downloads updates and installs them without having to go to the web like other applications. It supports all major cryptocurrencies and allows users to add custom Ethereum tokens.
Atomic Wallet features an in-app Staking hub, where users can stake their funds. It also features an in-app exchange.
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Trust Wallet as a mobile wallet is simple, intuitive, and great looking. It features many other cryptocurrencies aside from Bitcoin and Ethereum. A great feature of Trust Wallet is that it is a widely recognized and accepted cryptocurrency wallet.
Trust Wallet is accepted on most major DeFi applications to connect to. Trust Wallet is like Metamask but for more cryptocurrencies. Trust Wallet supports more than 100 cryptocurrencies. Users can add custom tokens not only on Ethereum but also on other EVM networks.
Trust Wallet supports more networks than Exodus, our next choice, and OneKey wallet, though we only put it 5th because of its lack of support for other devices.
The Exodus is the 4th best Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet on our list. It is perhaps one of the best-looking wallets. Exodus does what all of the other wallets on this list don’t: combine great-looking aesthetics with simplicity. It is also available on virtually all platforms.
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Exodus wallet also supports many other native cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin and Ethereum, like Algorand, Avalanche, BSC, Cardano, Arbitrum, Optimism, Fantom, and much more!
It is also possible to buy crypto with fiat currencies using Moonpay within the Exodus wallet.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Known for its hardware wallets, OneKey also has a wallet app, which have many features. OneKey is not as visually appealing as Exodus, or Dopamine, but it also isn’t bad looking. Its user-interface is organized, though some tinkering with the app is required to find all of the functions.
The one thing that this wallet got right is the wide range of blockchain networks supported, and consequently, the wide range of cryptocurrencies accepted. Users can add custom tokens on the Ethereum network, as well as on other EVM and non-EVM networks. These can include Solana, Sui, Conflux Core, Aptos, and many more chains.
OneKey wallet also allows you to add custom EVM blockchain networks that aren’t as mainstream as Pulsechain, Moonbeam, and Metis. Custom tokens are also able to be added within the custom EVM networks.
OneKey has an in-app exchange section and a section dedicated to DApp access, where you can access DeFi apps like GMXand Uniswap. It also has a browser for non-mainstream DApps.
Did I forget to mention how you can also make multiple wallets with different private keys? Multiple wallet addresses can be created using a single wallet private key. This allows you to manage your wallet to a greater extent by segregating wallets for different purposes.
OneKey wallet also allows users to set custom notes if they want more privacy and anonymity. We also rated OneKey wallet as one of the best Bitcoin wallets when it comes to anonymity for iPhone users, in another article.
Difficulty Level: Advanced
While the Ledger wallets are still generally safe, Ledger, the company behind the hardware wallets, told us that they would implement a service to restore funds for people if they lost their keys.
This spiraled out of control when it was explained that the service was done through an update that extracts the keys and splits them up into 3 pieces. This is an opt-in service and isn’t done without the user’s consent.
We have the ledger wallets as the number 5th best Bitcoin & Ethereum wallet because this new information illustrates to us that while the wallets are still generally safe, they aren’t the safest- not like Trezor wallets at least.
The Ledger wallets are still much safer than Hot wallets like Exodus, or Trust wallet.
With the purchase of the Ledger hardware wallet, users can access features in the Ledger live application, to manage their ledger and cryptocurrency.
Difficulty Level: Advanced
Trezor hardware wallets are trusted by the entire crypto community and are known to be safe. They are safer than all other hot wallet applications. TrezorSuit (the app that is used to interact with the wallet) has a clean and good-looking interface.
Firmware updates are quick and easy to install on the Trezor wallet. It's important to note that the least expensive version of the Trezor wallet(Trezor Model 1) comes with limited support of different cryptocurrencies. The more expensive models support more cryptocurrencies.
The bottom line is that this is the safest, most secure wallet to store Bitcoin and Ethereum. The TrezorSuit application also has a built-in cryptocurrency exchange and offers connectivity to the TOR network so that users can have more privacy. Trezor wallet devices themselves have a pin which gets exponentially more difficult to break into with wrong attempts.
