How to Stake Conflux(CFX) Cryptocurrency
Updated January 1st, 2023
Many cryptocurrencies and crypto companies allow people to stake their cryptocurrencies to earn passive income. Luckily, Conflux allows people to stake their crypto.
People can stake Conflux crypto by delegating their stake. This is easily done using staking pools such as PHX Pos Pool, Web-o-Matic and Consensus Pool. The necessary wallet to be able to do this is Metamask and Fluent Wallet. People can also stake Conflux by running their own validator node and staking it with their validator.
In this article we go over staking in Conflux and how to do it. Lets' jump right in!
Some cryptocurrencies are able to be staked, others aren’t. Conflux is a unique cryptocurrency in that it is a Hybrid Proof of Stake and Mining blockchain network
Users can Stake CFX coins by running a node and staking their coins with their node, or by delegating their coins with a pool. This is referred to as pool staking.
It is important to note that within the Conflux blockchain, there are two types of Conflux coins, core space coins and Espace coins. These are two different environments but the same currency. Think of it like having physical cash and having digital cash. You can use digital cash with a debit card and physical cash via cash registers. They’re both the same currency, just different environments, but you can’t use digital cash to pay using cash registers. Similarly in Conflux, some software applications only accept either Core space CFX or Espace CFX.
You can use a bridge to switch from one environment to the other. The Espace environment is an EVM space, meaning that it follows all of the rules that Ethereum follows. You have to use applications that are built for the designated environment, such as Metamask.
This is all important because some of the staking tools we can use require Conflux Core space Coins to interact with.
The first place to stake Conflux is to stake your coins with a staking pool. One tool you can use for pool staking is Conflux-pos-validators. Conflux-pos-validators shows you the different pools and their website which you can stake with. The most popular pools are PHX PoS pool and ABC PoS Pool. Another way to stake Conflux is by running your own node and staking your coins to receive network rewards for keeping the network safe and secure. You can also stake with Conflux Network to receive both CFX and votes for governance. This method may provide about 4% APY and is for node staking. They also provide a tool available to stake and unstake.
You can use either Core-space CFX or Espace CFX to stake with Conflux-Pos-Validators. Though each pool accepts Core Chain CFX and or Espace CFX . To stake using Core-space CFX, you will need the Fluent wallet. To stake using Espace CFX, you will need Metamask. Conflux-pos-validators provides more than 5 different pools with which you can stake with. PHX PoS pool and ABC PoS Pool both are pools which accept Core and Espace CFX staking.
If you decide to stake with these pools, they do have the following rules:
Finally, you are able to stake your conflux by running your own node. There are various resources provided by the team and community that may help you run your own node. Once you start running a node, you can stake your coins and receive rewards for validating transactions and keeping the network secure. The resource pointed above is a tutorial on how to run a conflux node.
To stake Conflux on Espace, you first need more than, or at least 1000 CFX and Metamask. You will need to add the conflux Espace network to Metamask. Lucky for you we have the right tutorial for this. We will assume that you have all of these in place. Otherwise, it will be difficult to follow the guide. If you have less than 1000 Conflux, you won’t be able to stake, since at least 1000 CFX are required to stake. Also make sure to have at least 1 CFX left after staking to pay for gas fees and possible unstaking and claiming fees.
Make sure that your CFX are in your Metamask wallet and signed in.
Step 1. Go to Conflux-pos-validators.
Step 2. Click on PHX POS pool, or ABC POS pool.
Step 3. Switch to Espace Conflux Network on Metamask.
Step 4. Click on eSpace on the Pools’ Website.
Step 5. Click on Connect Wallet on the website.
Step 6. On Metamask, click Next and then click on Connect to connect your wallet. Your Metamask should then be logged in and connected. Your screen should look like this:
Step 7. Input the amount you want to stake. Be sure to leave some CFX left over to pay for potential gas fees.
Step 8. Click on Stake. This should open a window on MetaMask and ask you to confirm it. Then, Confirm with Metamask. Take note that the lock period to stake and unstake is 7 days.
Staking Conflux on Core space is much like staking Espace Conflux. If you haven’t already, get the Fluent wallet and load more than 1001 Conflux on it. Make sure to have your Conflux in denominations of 1000 to stake and 1 CFX or more for left over gas fees. The remainder CFX has to stay in the wallet to pay for gas fees.
Step 1. Head over to the Conflux PoS Validators website.
Step 2. Click on the highest-ranking Pool or the pool of your choice. You can also select PHX POS pool or ABC Pool . We recommend that you select one that says active, a checkmark for verification and a lock for security as seen in the next picture:
Step 3. Once you selected a pool, it should look like the following image. Make sure that Core is fully white, then Click on Connect Wallet
Step 4. Sign into Fluent Wallet and Connect your address to the website. You should then be signed with your address showing in the top right corner starting with CFX:
Step 5. Enter the amount of CFX that you want to stake, in denominations of 1000. Be sure to leave some Conflux for gas fees, the recommended amount is about 1 CFX. Click on Stake.
Step 6. Confirm the transaction on Fluent wallet
